NEW YORK - Rao S. Anumolu, India-born president and CEO of a technology services company, has been felicitated on winning this year’s prestigious Ellis Island Medal of honour, the highest civilian award in the US for the immigrants.
Andhra Pradesh-born Anumolu, president and CEO of ASR International Corporation, received standing ovation from a gathering of business leaders, academicians, technology leaders, and politicians at an event held at Long Island, New York last weekend.
Ellis Island Medal of Honour recognizes recipients for outstanding contributions to their communities, their nation and the world.
Both the United States House of Representatives and Senate have officially recognized the Ellis Island Medal of Honour and the recipients are read into the Congressional Record.
Past winners include six US Presidents, Nobel Prize winners and leaders of industry, education, the arts, sports and government.
Former Congressman George J. Hochbrueckner, who was the chief guest at the event, acknowledged Anumolu’s contributions and congratulated him on behalf of the New York Congressional delegation.
In 2003, Anumolu was honoured with Congressional recognition on Capitol Hill for helping to boost homeland security after the September 2001 terrorist attacks.
