Ex-lovers at war over similar bum-enhancing denim businesses

NEW YORK - Two Colombian immigrants who fell in love over butt-boosting jeans are at war after breaking up and are starting rival Bronx businesses selling the same derriere-defining denim.
“Everybody who knows my store knows her store,” the New York Daily News quoted Andres Londono, who runs Jeans Levantacola on the Bronx’s Third Ave. in The Hub, as saying.
“We’re kind of friendly, but competition is competition.”
They now fight over fannies, chasing the same customers with dueling discounts.
“I’m nicer and cuter,” said Londono’s ex, Maria Gutierrez, proprietor of Columbia Jeans Levantpompis of Fordham Road.
“But he’s more aggressive on advertising.”
At first, they sold the pants to Colombian friends at parties and at school, but they hit pay dirt when other Latinas went gaga for the dynamic denim, Londono said.
Sales soared as the couple opened stores in Union City and Paterson, N.J. But the couple clashed over marketing strategy and missed dinner dates.
When they broke up in 2008, Londono kept one store and Gutierrez the other. He expanded to Washington Heights and she opened another store in New Jersey.
The feud began when Londono planned to open a Fordham Road store last year but Gutierrez beat him to the punch. (ANI)
