BHUBANESWAR - A non-governmental organisation (NGO) ‘Prerna’ for social service and development of art, literature and culture, organised an environment awareness campaign here on Saturday.

The campaign was aimed at educating people about the need to conserve flora and fauna.

“We are here to, through the art to bring attention to the environment, water, air, trees, to make our world a better place,” said Carol Hamel, an American participant.

The campaign saw a mix of foreign and Indian participants painted as wild animals perform ‘yajna’ (a Hindu ritual) to educate the people to take measures to safeguard the environment and save the wildlife of India.

“We want to convey to the people of India that trees and nature are very important for us. We are performing a holy ritual here through which we want to convey the message to save the nature and live our life nicely,” said Gurunath, an Indian participant.
Prerna’ volunteers have been engaged in educating locals on the importance of conservation of natural environment. (ANI)
