NEW DELHI - Nine labourers were rescued after a portion of a wall of an underground multi-level parking lot collapsed here on Saturday.
About five to ten labourers are still feared trapped under debris of an under-construction parking lot in the Chandni Chowk area.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Surendra Singh Yadav, confirmed the incident and said that the injured were taken to a local hospital.
“The anchoring of the under-construction parking lot has collapsed, and the reason for that and the number of people trapped will be known only after an investigation. Till now nine people are rescued and have been taken to the JPL hospital. Agencies are also carrying out the rescue operation,” said Yadav.
“And as people are saying, there can be five to ten people trapped. It was a huge collapse so rescue work will take time. There has been no fatality so far. There are people with injuries and have been taken to the hospital,” he added.
The underground parking lot was roughly 35 to 40 feet deep.
Rescue operations are in progress. (ANI)
