Illicit liquor consumption claims a dozen lives near Punjab town of Dasuya

DASUYA - At least twelve persons succumbed and over 15 fell ill after consuming country liquor near Dasuya town in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district.
Two men from a moonshine distillery in neighbouring Gurdaspur district reportedly supplied the illicit liquor.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur District, Harpreet Singh, confirmed news of the tragedy and said an investigation has been launched into the incident.
“The main reason will be known only after the post mortem,” he added.
The victims belonged to Kaalwan, Miyani and Giljian villages. The family members are in mourning in the wake of the tragedy.
Three persons have been taken into police custody under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code. (ANI)
