Special development plans for Naxal- affected areas

NEW DELHI - The Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, has said that the Commission has firmed up its views on 13,742 crore rupees Integrated Action Plan for the development of Naxal-affected areas in the country.

The proposal was being sent for the Union Cabinet’s approval . Ahluwalia said that prime aim of the plan was to improve basic infrastructure in 60 Naxal hit districts of the country.

This included road, schools, power, and health facilities besides making governance effective at village level.

The plan is proposed to be implemented in the two-phases; in the first phase of two year action plan, 3000 crore rupees will be provided to the target districts. (ANI)
