DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The residents of Delhi have reasons to feel good about ahead of the festive season. The capital is gearing up for celebrating Diwali and what can be better than a new Metro track being thrown open for the commuters? The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has decided to open the stretch between Sarita Vihar- Badarpur which is included in the Central Secretariat-Badarpur line. The 5 km stretch was supposed to be inaugurated ahead of the Commonwealth Games but that did not happen finally. The trail runs in the stretch is being conducted now and DMRC wants to ensure that the stretch gets operational before Diwali without any major hiccup. This new stretch covers three stations Badarpur, Tughlakabad and Mohan Estate.
The Diwali will prove to be better for the residents of Delhi who live in this region and want hassle free and faster transport. The final nod for normal operation is yet to come. The Metro authorities want to ensure that the signaling and electrification along the new stretch meets the safety standards. The spokespersons of the Delhi Metro said that Building this stretch was quite hard for the DMRC as the construction time was short.
During Diwali which is a major festival in North India a lot of people hit the streets and the resultant traffic jams bring the capital to a halt almost every year. If the new track of Delhi Metro is made operational before the festival the residents will be highly benefitted. Delhi Metro is expanding its routes in the Capital rather fast compared to Kolkata which was the first city to get Metro rail.
