MELBOURNE - An Australian man, who has been accused of raping a woman after she told him she is lesbian, is said to have told her she “has not met the best man yet”.
Prosecutor Eric Balodis told a Sydney jury that Bruce William Le Cornu dragged the 52-year-old woman to the ground and raped her on her loungeroom floor.
“The crown case is the accused must have undressed her as she slept or was otherwise passed out,”‘ the Herald Sun quoted him as saying in his opening address in the NSW District Court.
He said the woman had told Le Cornu she was a lesbian, which was true.
“His response to her … was that she had not met the best man yet,” he stated.
Le Cornu, 34, of Redfern, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual intercourse with the woman without her consent and one charge of committing an act of indecency.
Balodis said the pair met at a pub on the evening of August 31 last year, and that the intoxicated woman, who suffers from a degenerative eye condition that means she has vision problems, had won more than 1600 dollars on the hotel’s poker machines. (ANI)
