WASHINGTON - Republican Party nominee Christine O’Donnell has revealed that the reason she is running for the Senate is because of God.

O’Donnell, 41, had made the revelation in an interview with the Christian Broadcast Network.

“If I didn’t believe that there were a cause greater than myself worth fighting for, if I didn’t believe that it takes a complete dying of self to make things right in this election cycle, I would not be running,” the Politico quoted her as saying.

“God is the reason that I’m running,” she stated.

O’Donnell says she believes prayer “plays a direct role in the campaign”, claiming a bump in the polls the day some of her supporters “had a prayer meeting for her”.

“I always ask, ‘Please pray for the campaign. Please pray specifically that the eyes of the voters be opened’,” she said.

Throughout her campaign, O’Donnell said, she has prayed that God will allow her to win and serve as his voice in Congress.

“God, you gave me this desire. You gave me this desire of my heart to serve the people of Delaware to go in there and be your voice in Congress,” she added. (ANI)
