Now, Cabinet Secretary snubs Kalmadi
By ANISunday, October 24, 2010
NEW DELHI - Commonwealth Games Organizing Committee head Suresh Kalmadi who is facing charges of corruption in the sporting event, was not invited to a thanksgiving dinner hosted by Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar.
The dinner was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Lt Governor Tejender Khanna, Union Sports Minister M S Gill and several senior officials associated with the preparations of the Games.
This is the third time that Kalmadi has been snubbed and distanced in this manner.
Kalmadi was earlier snubbed when he was not invited to separate meetings that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi had with Indian medal-winners in the Games on October 15 and 16.
Earlier, Kalmadi had claimed that contrary to reports, he was invited by Manmohan Singh to the felicitation function for CWG medal winners, but could not go due to his “busy” schedule.
Perhaps the government is giving a signal that it is trying to keep a distance from Kalmadi as more and more charges are coming up every day against the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee. (ANI)
