Another N Korean nuke test will be provocative: US
By ANIFriday, October 22, 2010
WASHINGTON - Another nuclear test by North Korea would be provocative, a US State Department spokesman has said.
“We’ve said all along that they need to adhere to their commitments and they also need to refrain from provocative actions,” The Xinhua quoted Mark Toner as saying on Thursday.
“Another nuclear test by Pyongyang will certainly fall under the rubric of provocative actions,” he added.
Toner was commenting on the reports by a South Korean media that South Korea had detected consistent movements at the site where North Korea had conducted a nuclear test. But the reports also said there were no signs hinting at an immediate test.
“I’m aware of the reports. They obviously go into intelligence matters so I can’t really comment on them, but it really hasn’t changed our position vis-a-vis North Korea,” he said.
Both China and DPRK had expressed readiness to resume the stalled six-party talks in an effort to seek a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula. (ANI)
