Vayalar Ravi undertakes two-day visit to Hanoi

NEW DELHI - Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi undertook a two-day official visit to Hanoi where he called on Hoang Van Phong, Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam and President of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association.
The two leaders, during their meet, discussed the bilateral relations and emphasized the need to strengthen India-Vietnam ties.
Recalling the personal friendship between Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and President Ho Chi Minh which laid the foundation of a long and trusted relationship between the two countries, Ravi expressed his appreciation of Vietnam’s economic growth in the recent years.
He hoped that the Indian business community would actively seek investment opportunities in Vietnam.
Ravi also interacted with members of the Indian community in Hanoi.
While briefing the Indian community about the recent initiatives taken by his Ministry for welfare and benefit of the Indian diaspora, Ravi lauded the contribution of the Indian community in Hanoi and hoped that they would continue to nurture their ties back home.
He also urged them to attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2011.
Earlier in the day, Ravi paid floral tributes at the bust of the former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, an official release stated here on Thursday. (ANI)
