Chandigarh hotels, multiplexes to install CCTV cameras

CHANDIGARH - In an effort to ensure safety of public and to keep an eye on anti-social elements, the Chandigarh administration Thursday directed hotels, restaurants, guest-houses and multiplexes to install CCTV cameras on their premises.
The district magistrate has issued directions to the owners and managers of all hotels, restaurants, guest-houses, cinemas and multiplexes to install CCTV cameras. These cameras should cover entry, exit, reception and parking areas at their premises, the spokesperson of the Chandigarh administration said here.
They have been also directed to keep the recording of around 30 days and they can be asked anytime to produce it. Security of people visiting these places requires strict vigilance in view of the recent terrorist strikes in the country and on the basis of inputs received from intelligence agencies, he added.
According to officials, these orders will come into force with effect from Oct 22 and strict action will be taken against the violators.
