Costa Rican Foreign Minister Salazar calls on S.M. Krishna in New Delhi

NEW DELHI - The Foreign Minister of Costa Rica, Reni Castro Salazar called on External Minister S M Krishna here on Tuesday.
The two leaders are believed to have discussed bilateral relations and issues of global concerns during their meet.
Salazar is on his maiden visit to India.
Diplomatic relations between India and Costa Rica were established in 1970. India appointed an Honorary Consul to Costa Rica in 1995, while Costa Rica reciprocated in 1996.
In April, 2010, the Embassy of Costa Rica was set up in New Delhi.
India and Costa Rica share a warm and friendly relationship with trade between the two countries growing (during the calendar year 2009, 76 million dollars) and Indian and Costa Rican companies collaborating in automobiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and information technology.
There has also been interest in Indian culture and several Costa Ricans have availed technical scholarships to train in Indian institutions.
Earlier, India and Costa Rica announced plans to use biometrics to protect their borders from foreign nationals who may illegally enter the country. (ANI)
