More than 50 pc Kiwis regret career choice

WELLINGTON - A new survey has suggested that more than half of New Zealand’s university-educated professionals would have chosen a different career if they could turn back the clock.
Results from the Workchoice Trust survey showed that 52 percent of respondents would change the career path they chose when leaving high school. About 229 professionals were involved in the nationwide survey, reports Stuff.co.nz.
A large majority felt there was not enough early career guidance in New Zealand, with 79 percent saying they did not have adequate access to careers advice at high school.
Workchoice Trust chief executive Kathy McCombe said the survey confirmed how critical it was that students had the opportunity to talk with people in the workplace before embarking on decision-making.
A third of respondents had changed careers over three times and 82 percent felt they did not have a clear understanding of the career path they chose after graduating. (ANI)
