Jewellery worth million stolen in Gujarat

KOSAMBA - A group of 15-16 armed miscreants barged into a jewellery showroom and robbed jewelleries worth over a million.
The incident took 8 p.m. on Saturday, in Gujarat’s Kosamba city, about 50 kilometres from Surat.
The robbers first pelted stones on the showroom and attacked the security guard with an axe when he tried to intervene.bout 30 kilos of gold and 25 hundred thousands of cash was robbed. However no one has been injured.
Police said the whole episode got captured in the close circuit cameras and it will further help them nabbing the robbers.
“About 15-16 people came and 3- 4 among them had weapons like axes and baton. They threatened the employees and stole the jewelleries. We are yet to find out the estimate of how much has been stolen. The recordings in the security systems will be helpful in our investigation,” said A. K. Singh, range inspector general, Surat.
Jhangabhai Rabri, an eyewitness chased the robbers but was too weak to fight with the gang.
“I ran after them but I could not retaliate after they attacked me,” said Rabri.
Sniffer dogs were also brought in to the spot for identifying specific clues. (ANI)
