125-year-old woman tops ‘longest living Chinese’ list

NEW DELHI - A woman, aged 125, has topped the latest list of the 10 longest-living people in China.

Luo Meizhen is from Southwest China and believed to be the oldest on the mainland. She just celebrated her 125th birthday.

She is illiterate and has led a simple life as a housewife, reports China Daily.

“I almost forget how long I’ve been living and for me, tolerance is the key to longevity,” Meizhen said in an interview.

The list was released in honour of Chongyang Festival, also known as Seniors’ Day.

China has more than 43,000 people who are 100 years or older, according to a recent survey.

Moving the nation to second place in the number of centenarians worldwide, with the United States coming in first and Japan now third. (ANI)
