Two Maoists killed in Chhattisgarh encounter

DURG - Police officials gunned down two Maoist rebels in an encounter during a search operation in Jamul area of Chhattisgarh’s Durg District on Friday.
The encounter, which took place around 2 a.m. in the thick forest area, lasted for over an hour.
It has been reported that the there was firing from the Maoist camp as well, while the two ultras were killed, the rest managed to escape.
The area has been sealed and body of one of the rebels could be seen at the site.
Police officials, however, said the body of the other rebel was kept away from the media because of security reasons.
Meanwhile, the security personnel recovered a pistol, a dairy, a bundle of cash and several household items, including toothpaste, toothbrush, water bottle and a torch, from the encounter area.
This is the second Maoist encounter in Chhattisgarh within a week, as the security forces had earlier on Tuesday killed six Maoists in Mahasamund District. (ANI)
