NEW DELHI - A five-day theatre festival, “Whose Life Is It Anyway” bringing into the focus complexities of human relationships, will be held in the capital in aid of the Leh cloud-burst victims Oct 16-21.
The festival at Epicentre in Gurgaon and at the Kamani auditorium in the capital is a common initiative by four non-profit platforms, the Helpage India, Sakshi, Cathaayatra and Lakshya Foundation.
The plays are 45″35″55″, written and directed by Smita Bharti; Mahim Junction, written and directed by Sohaila Kapur; Solo by Lushin Dubey; Ek Mamooli Admi written by Ashok Lal and directed by Arvind Gaur; and Court Martial directed by Arvind Gaur.
The five plays will feature 63 artists.
While 45″35″55″ is a hilariously comic story about three women, Mahim Junction is a singing, dancing, nostalgic tribute to Mumbai and Bollywood. Solo portrays the journey of a woman from hopelessness into hope.
Ek Mamooli Admi underlines those features of an urban middle class setting which make the yearning for real happiness an agonising experience.
Court Martial explores caste bars in India.
