NEVADA - Hindus have congratulated Chile for the job well done in rescuing her 33 miners trapped deep below ground for 69 days and setting a world record for survival underground.
Renowned Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that besides the heroism-faith-camaraderie of the miners and extraordinary rescue operation put up by Chile, prayers and blessings of the entire world belonging to various religions/denominations also helped.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that world showed a remarkable solidarity in wishing the safe return of the miners and it was joy for whole world when all of them landed safely. It was a shining moment for humanity. Chilean President Sebastian Piqera should also be commended for excellent crisis management.
Rajan Zed pointed to a prayer in ancient Hindu scripture Brahadaranyakopanishad, which goes as: “Asato ma sad gamaya, Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya, Mrityor mamrtam gamaya”; which roughly translates as “Lead me from the unreal to the Real, Lead me from darkness to Light, Lead me from death to immortality”.
