NEW YORK - Joe Biden has said that President Barck Obama has already asked him to run alongside him again as vice president, dousing speculations that Biden and Hillary Clinton will swap jobs next time around.

Dispelling rumors that Hillary might be President Obama’s running mate in 2012, Biden said he has been asked to run as vice president again, a source said.

“I tell you what, there’s real trust, that’s why he’s asked me to run again,” Biden told the New York Times at the end of 40-minute interview on Tuesday.

“Look, he said, ‘We’re going to run together, are you going to run?’ I said, ‘Of course, you want me to run with you, I’m happy to run with you,’” Biden said.

The rumors have been floating for months, coinciding with Obama’s popularity dipping in polls, the Daily News reports.

The theory was that Biden, a former chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, really wanted to work solely on foreign policy.

In the meantime, Clinton would re-energize frustrated Democrats and independents, especially Latinos and women, by running for vice president.

Clinton and Obama’s press secretary had dismissed the rumors.

Former Vice President Walter Mondale said Biden is “the one everybody wants.” (ANI)
