Six Maoists killed in Chhattisgarh encounter

MAHASAMUND - Security forces have gunned down six Maoist rebels in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund District.
The security personnel also managed to seize huge cache of explosives during the encounter that took place on Tuesday.
It has been reported that the security personnel were deployed in the region on a month-long anti- Maoists operation.
Special Task Force (STF) Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Pathak said e is expecting more casualties of the Maoists.
“Till now, we have recovered six bodies of the Maoists however, the ground situation suggests that there must be more casualties on their side,” he added.
Pramod Kumar, one of the personnel of the anti-Maoist force, said the security personnel of the State have been informed about the encounter as some of the ultras successfully managed to escape towards the Orissa border.
“Our forces are deployed on a search operation in the forests as well as the boarder area and other parts of the region. We have warned the Orissa police about it. And they are also starting search operation in their area,” he added. (ANI)
