MELBOURNE - A woman from Adelaide, who was apparently just trying to save her troubled marriage by burning her cheating husband’s penis, has been cleared of murder charges.
Rajini Narayan, however, has been found guilty of manslaughter at the end of her South Australian Supreme Court trial for burning 47-year-old Satish Narayan to death in December 2008, reports the Herald Sun.
Prosecutor Tim Preston had argued that Narayan was a jealous, possessive wife who wanted to hurt her husband because she suspected he was having an affair.
Narayan had agreed she threw petrol on her husband and set it alight.
But she said it only came after he insulted her when she revealed her plan to save their marriage by dipping his penis in petrol and lighting it.
She snapped and threw petrol on his back when he turned away from her saying “no you won’t, you fat, dumb bitch”.
The husband later died with burns to 75 per cent of his body.
The jury on acquitted the wife of murder, but found her guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter and she would face sentencing submissions on November 22. (ANI)
