‘Won’t allow uniformed people, political actors to play joke with Pak again’: Zardari

NAWABSHAH - Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has stated that uniformed people played a joke with the country when they came into power, adding that they would no more be allowed to take Pakistan’s reins into their hands.

Addressing a public gathering, Zardari said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would not go even one step backwards from development and progress of the country, and emphasized that the government would complete its five-year term, The News reported.

Every dictator had greatly harmed the PPP, he said, adding that Pakistan could not afford such misadventures anymore. He also said that the nation had to pay a heavy cost for blunders committed by former President Farooq Ahmad Leghari and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.

“Some people are doing politics for hitting headlines (in newspapers) only… Opponents are afraid of our feats. We will win the next elections due to which they are trying to create hurdles for democracy and the government”,” said Zardari.

He also accused ‘political actors’ of jointly targeting the incumbent government, but declared, “We will continue to serve the people and complete our stipulated term… We are not afraid of jail or mosquitoes.”

“Those who used to lambaste Shaheed BB (Benazir Bhutto) are now trying to slap the government because they are jealous of our achievements,” he claimed.

Asif Ali Zardari called upon the politicians engaged in negative propaganda against the democratic government, to not to play into the hands of anti-democratic forces.

“The anti-democratic forces do not want to see democracy flourishing. Workers and leaders of the PPP are ready to challenge such anti-democratic tactics,” he stated, adding, “If politicians named the NWFP province as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and initiated the Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan Package, they must face criticism from the anti-democratic forces as experienced by the present democratic government.”

He also said the PPP had a bright past of struggling for the restoration of democracy in the country, and the party leaders and workers were still ready to foil any attempt of the anti-democratic forces. (ANI)
