Correction: Turkey-Emergency Landing story
ANKARA, Turkey — In an Oct. 5 story about a Korean Air plane that was diverted to Istanbul’s Ataturk airport, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the plane made an emergency landing.
An airport official initially told the AP that the plane made an emergency landing, and later explained that the Airbus 330, bound for Tel Aviv from Seoul, changed its course for Istanbul because of a crack on its windscreen. Korean Air says the plane did not declare an emergency to the control tower when it obtained approval for the unscheduled landing.
