NEW DELHI - Activists of Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a protest here on Friday demanding the resignation of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the controversial speech delivered by him in the State Assembly earlier this week.

Scores of BJYM activists gathered outside the Delhi State Assembly and demanded Abdullah’s resignation, saying his comments were against the country.

BJYM chief Anurag Thakur said Omar Abdullah is unable to control the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Omar Abdullah has always been unsuccessful in keeping the situation under control and in order to cover up his failure, he is giving comments against the country, which is the language of the separatists. Today Abdullah is using that language, which is completely opposed to by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha,” said Thakur.

“His comments are against the country and we want him to resign immediately. The country has the opinion that Jammu Kashmir is and always will be a part of the country,” he added.

Thakur also came down heavily on Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government.

“The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, has been unable to reduce the high inflationary prices in the past six and a half years. Corruption has increased and the situation of Jammu and Kashmir has worsened under his rule,” said Anurag Thakur.

“On one hand Rahul Gandhi tells Omar Abdullah to give the issue more time, on the second hand Abdullah says that he is not Delhi’s puppet. If he is not Delhi’s puppet; his comments are like that of an agent of Pakistan; he is behaving like the separatists leader there. The Government should take appropriate steps,” he added. (ANI)
