Soon, luxury resort in Maldives run exclusively by blondes

NEW YORK - A Lithuanian company has revealed that it has plans of creating a resort in the Maldives that will be run solely by blondes.
If the exclusive spa resort gets the go ahead, it will have a no-brunette policy, which it hopes will attract tourists from around the world and also dispel stereotypes about blondes being dumb.
According to the Maldives Traveller, modelling agency Olialia came up with the plan, and it hopes to offer direct flights and a yacht service to the island, which will also be staffed entirely by blondes.
“Blondes are a great power that should not be underestimated,” the New York Daily News quoted Olialia group’s Giedre Pukiene as saying.
“We are smart, beautiful, reckless and purposeful,” Pukiene stated.
The company, which already has a blonde-only policy, has a diverse array of business interests from a limo and bus service to ice cream and Lithuanian nightclubs.
The resort is due to open in 2015 but the proposal could run into trouble as laws in the Maldives state that islands should hire 50 percent locals, who are non-white and non-blonde.
The idea has also sparked widespread criticism from groups branding the idea racist.
In its defense, the company says it does not discriminate but that brunettes often find themselves reaching for a bottle of hair bleach after spending time around so many blondes.
“We find that when women with dark hair work here, they are surrounded by all these beautiful blondes, so eventually they end up going blonde too,” added Pukiene. (ANI)
