MELBOURNE - The Melbourne man who drugged and repeatedly sexually abused his daughter before threatening to kill her if she spoke about the crime, is said to have tried to ram the car she and mum were escaping in.

The Victorian County Court was told the 35-year-old man, who cannot be identified, had initially told the 12-year-old he was teaching her about sex, but instead sexually abused her numerous times, News.com.au reported.

The incidents had taken place between September last year and February this year, and when the mother came to know about the abuse, they tried to flee the house in their car, reports News.com.au.

But the man is said to have chased them and drove onto the wrong side of the road and tried to collide with their car, following which they were forced to take refuge in a service station.

Sentencing the father, a judge described the offences as “extremely serious” and “grotesque”.

The father, who pleaded guilty to charges including 11 counts of incest, three of administering a drug for sexual penetration and reckless conduct endangering life, was jailed for 11 years and five months.

He must serve eight years and five months before being eligible for parole.

The father, who has already served 247 days in custody, will be a registered sex offender for life. (ANI)
