Biographical information on HP CEO-elect Apotheker
NAME — Leo Apotheker.
AGE — 57
BIRTH DATE — Sept. 18, 1953
BIRTHPLACE — Aachen, Germany, to parents who had fled the Nazis for the Soviet Union during World War II, then returned to Europe.
EDUCATION — Bachelor’s degree, Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
EXPERIENCE — Began his career at SAP in 1988. Apotheker was the founder of SAP France and SAP Belgium and served as CEO of those divisions from 1995-1997. From 1997-1999, he was CEO of SAP’s Southwest Europe region. He served as president of SAP’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region from 2000-2002. In 2002, he was named a member of its executive board. He was president of global customer solutions and operations from 2002-2007. He became SAP’s deputy CEO in 2007, and was named co-CEO in 2008. In 2009, Apotheker became SAP’s sole CEO; he resigned after the business software maker declined to renew his executive board member contract in February.
