ADVANA - For past 15 to 20 days, residents of Advana village in Gujarat’s Porbandar district are experiencing tremors in their area.
Scared by the tremors, villagers have stopped living inside their houses and have taken shelter in small tents.
“We have requested the government to provide us some help. Nobody wants to live inside his or her houses. We all are sleeping outside in tents at the marketplace. But there are too many mosquitoes so we have asked them to provide us pesticides as well,” said Khimabhai Khuti, a resident of Advana.
Khuti said that seismometers installed in the schools clearly show that earthquakes have been shaking their village for past few days.
He further said that they feel so threatened that students write their papers under the open sky.
On the other hand, Girish Joshi, collector of Porbandar district, said that the administration is still conducting inquires into the tremors experienced by the villagers.
“We have installed seismometers in the school to examine if it is an earthquake or not,” said Joshi.
He also claimed that the disaster management department in the district is geared to face any kind of situation, and as soon as they got confirmed reports on the nature of the tremors, the authorities would start taking all required action.
Joshi further said that two teams of engineers would be sent to Advana village for a survey, and based on their examination a report would be sent to the government. By Uday Adhvaryu (ANI)
