SHIMLA -In an initiative of promoting tourism and to celebrate the World Tourism Day, students of Shimla arranged a special welcoming event for tourists who travelled by the Kalka-Shimla heritage toy the train.
The students from a private college gathered at the heritage railway station and welcomed tourists with garlands in conventional manner.
“We are actually accommodating the people who are coming from Kalka and various places. We are providing them plum cakes, puddings and juices. As we know, Commonwealth Games are approaching, so it’s an effort to bring a good name to our country,” said Akul Sinha, a student.
The tourism department also organized an exhibition on the heritage of the town for the visitors.
The foreign tourists enjoyed the traditional welcome at the railway station before beginning their journey by toy train.
“Welcoming us here was very nice and yeah, we have been served… through members, it’s really fun and it’s a pleasure,” said Emily, an American tourist.
