This year more color will be added on to the celebrations of Daughter’s Day with Archie’s and CRY, which stands for Child Rights and You, having launched special greeting cards for the occasion. CRY has been making sincere efforts with the view of reducing the plight that girl child’s in India often face. The organization is working in about 13,000 villages in India where it has tried to reduce gender discrimination. Serious projects have been undertaken by the organization to prevent the instances of child abuse, child marriage and child labor in those areas.
The partnership between CRY and Archies will result in the raising of funds that will be put to good use by CRY in implementing their projects aimed at the development of females in the underdeveloped regions of the country. Archies has been celebrating Daughter’s Day for many years while many NGO’s have celebrated the day with an aim of promoting awareness about the importance of “girl child” in the country. The cards designed for the occasion are a means of reminding the giver and the receiver that a girl child deserves the same respect and privileges as a male child.
In many parts of India, females are still underprivileged and often have to face many forms of gender discrimination such as denial of education as well as female infanticide. Daughter’s Day seeks to remind everyone that girls are as much a gift as a boy child.
