Hindus laud City of Ann Arbor for “reaffirming religious freedom”

NEVADA - Hindus have applauded City of Ann Arbor (Michigan, USA) for passing a resolution reaffirming religious freedom.minent Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commended Ann
Arbor City Council for taking religion seriously as it was the most powerful force in human society. Prevalence of different religions was a positive sign of God’s generosity.
Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged other major cities of the country like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas, San Jose, etc., to pass such resolutions.
Ann Arbor resolution was sponsored by City Council members Carsten Hohnke, Mike Anglin, and Christopher Taylor. John Hieftje is the Mayor while Roger Fraser is City Administrator of Ann Arbor whose mission includes “valuing an open environment that fosters fair, sensitive and respectful treatment”. Ann Arbor, founded in 1824 and home to University of Michigan, was ranked during 2010 by Forbes magazine as number one in its list of “Top College Sports Towns”, while Kiplinger.com placed it among “Top 10 Cities to Raise a Family”.
