Austin (Texas, U.S.), Sept.23 (ANI-Business Wire India): A triple-mirrored mahogany table dating back to the 1930s and belonging to one of the seven wives of the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan, is to be auctioned off by the Austin Auction Company in Texas later this week.
The dressing table is fitted with a key lock safe and 30-piece Art Deco vanity set of sterling silver and cut glass, and was entirely custom-made by LOndon’s exclusive Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co. Ltd.
Purchased by the present owner in the 1990s in Asia, the dressing table is expected to fetch a sum of between 20,000 dollars to 25,000 dollars at this Sunday’s auction.
“It could go much higher. To the people of India, this piece could well be regarded as an important treasure. It symbolizes the grandeur of India’s royal past,” a spokesman for the Austin Auction Company. (ANI)
