NEW YORK - Former President Bill Clinton thinks his wife Hillary can succeed where he failed.

Bill Clinton said Tuesday that he believes his wife would succeed where he couldn’t and broker a peace deal between Israel and Palestine.

“I think the chances are at least 50-50, perhaps better, that there will be an agreement,” the New York Daily News quoted Clinton, as saying.

He added: “I’m encouraged that this is important to the President. I’m encouraged that he’s asked the Secretary of State to take a lead role in the negotiations.”

Earlier this month, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton convinced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to agree to meet every two weeks until they reach a deal.

The pair are trying to hammer out a land-for-peace deal that would resolve decades-old disputes, including final borders of a Palestinian state, the future of Jewish settlements on Arab land and the right of return for Palestinians tossed out of their homes.

Bill Clinton spoke while presiding over a panel discussion with Israeli President Shimon Peres, Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and Bahrain’s crown prince, Sheik Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. (ANI)
