DEHRADUN - Continuous landslides in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun region have blocked National Highway-72 leading to New Delhi, and left tourists stranded.

On Sunday, hundreds of tourists headed back to their homes after torrential rains resulted in a number of landslides in the region.

“We came here to Dehradun for holidays, we heard that the Uttarakhand state has been receiving a lot of rain but did not imagine such a situation. We are now planning to go back from Kanpur,” said Shantanu, a tourist.

“We are seeing that landslides are happening everywhere. People are stranded everywhere, and are facing a lot of problems,” he added.

Bulldozers were working at the site to clear the slush and rubble in order to resume transport services. By Ashish Goel (ANI)
