Two suspected woman Maoists arrested in Chhattisgarh village

KANKER - A specially formed squad of police arrested two suspected women Maoists from a village in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Wednesday.

According to the police, the two young women were involved in a gun battle with the personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) on August 29 at a place near Bhuski.

The Border Security Force has been deployed to tackle the menace posed by the Maoist ultras in the State.

Briefing reporters, Lakhan Patle, Sub Divisional Officer said the two women identified as Shivbati and Janaki, were arrested from Nayaalor village.

“A combined team of police personnel from Kachcha Chowki and Dhambasa Chowki under Bhanupratapur Police Station carried out the operation. We got information that the Maoists were hiding in the Burfer jungles. These two got arrested while other managed to escape,” said Lakhan Patle, Sub Divisional Officer, Kanker district.

He informed that some lethal arms and other materials were seized from the two women. These included a five-meter long electric wire, Maoist literature and a bundle of posters.

“We have seized a country made pistol and a tiffin bomb with eight round bullets from them,” added Lakhan Patle.

According to the police the two have been accomplice of the Maoists for a long time. (ANI)
