Kashmir valley largely peaceful; two govt. vehicles set ablaze in Shopian

SRINAGAR - While an all-party meet was convened in the national capital to discuss developments in Kashmir, the situation remained by and large peaceful in the valley except for some miscreants setting ablaze two government vehicles at Shirmal village near Shopian.

Besides, minor stone pelting incidents were reported from Yarikalan and Ropora areas of chadoora, and at SDA Bemina, Bagh-i-Mehtab,and Nowgam Chowk in Srinagar, Golwanpora, in Budgam.

However, miscreants were chased away by the security forces and the situation was brought under control.

Situation during Tuesday night remained peaceful barring a few incidents of arson in Sopore and Handwara, one of which was foiled by police.

Some miscreants tried to set ablaze Patwar khana at Sopore, but timely action of police saved the said building.

Meanwhile, curfew continued in Srinagar city, Budgam and adjoining areas, Chadoora Ganderbal and adjoining areas, Kangan, Anantnag town, Kulgam town, Qoimoh, Pulwama town, Shopian town, Pampore town, Awantipora town, Tral, Tangmarg, Sopore town, Kupwara town, Threhgam, Kralpora, Handwara town, Chotipora, Kulangam and Bandipora town.
