SRINAGAR - The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the Conglomerate’s senior Shia leader, Agha Syed Hasan Al-Safivi Ali Mousvi on Monday issued a public appeal to Kashmiris to maintain calm and not to resort to violence over the alleged desecration of Quran in the United States.
While strongly condemning the alleged desecration of Quran in America, Mirwaiz and Agha in a joint statement said: “We appeal the people of Kashmir not to resort to violence or damage the public property especially educational institutions. People should not undertake any such activity which will give chance to the international community to point fingers on us and our ongoing movement for freedom.”
Also condemning the attack on the Christian Missionary Tyndale Biscoe and Mallinson School in Tangamarg, both the leaders appealed: “Quran teaches us to respect the people from other religions. Christians, Sikhs, Muslims and Pandits are integral part of our society. It is our social, moral and religious responsibility that nobody is even allowed to cast an eye on them.” (ANI)
