LATEHAR - The villagers in Jharkhand’s Latehar District nabbed three Maoists and handed them over to the police.
The Maoists named Raju, Dhanu Mehta and Shanti Devi, belonging to the Jharkhand Prastuti Committee (JPC) outfit, were handed over to the local police authorities on Saturday.
“I am a Maoist belonging to the Jharkhand Prastuti Committee outfit. I don’t know why the villagers got into a scuffle with me. It all happened while we were coming from the market,” said Dhanu Mehta, one of the arrested Maoists.
Meanwhile, the police and security forces recovered five handmade pressure can bombs, each weighing five kilograms, during a combing operation in the Mankeri forests under Latehar police station.
“Since it does not have any detonator or wires it is very difficult to find them,” said Latehar Superintendent of Police (SP) Kuldeep Dwivedi.
The Maoist attacks have become more frequent this year, especially after the launch of Operation Green Hunt by the Government. (ANI)
