Seven suspected militants killed in US missile strikes in North Waziristan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN - Seven suspected militants were killed in US missile strikes in North Waziristan’s tribal region near the Afghan border.
Three missiles struck a village dwelling near Miranshah in North Waziristan on Friday evening, the Daily Times quoted two Pakistani officials, as saying. The identity of the deceased could not be confirmed, they added.
The intelligence officials said they believe that the killed people were militants.
The Haqqani network, an insurgent group closely allied with the Taliban, dominates the tribal areas of North Waziristan.
There have been more than 200 strikes, which have killed over 900 people, mostly civilians, in the troubled northwest tribal areas of Pakistan since 2008.ecently, a report by a top UN official had criticized the Obama administration for continuing the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operated drone attacks in the semi-autonomous tribal areas of Pakistan, as it has resulted in countless civilian deaths.
