PRICE POP: Corn prices surged to a record high for 2010 Friday as traders questioned whether yields will fall short of expectations. Meanwhile, supplies are tight and global demand is strong.
WHEAT RALLY: Wheat prices rose for a third consecutive day after the government reported two big export sales of the grain.
ENERGY MIX: Oil and most energy contracts settled lower after the government said the unemployment rate inched up to 9.6 percent in August. The exception was national gas, which rose 5 percent.
