Rahul Gandhi organises people’s courtroom in Amethi

AMETHI - Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi organized a ‘Janta Darbar’, or people’s courtroom here on Friday to address grievances of the locals in the region.

It has been reported that the people, who met the Gandhi scion, put forward all sorts of complaints from employment to legal support to health care requests.

“I have a daughter who is 15 years old. Her name is Pallavi Mishra. For the past two years she is suffering from headaches. We took her to many local doctors but everything in vain,” said Dinesh Kumar Mishra, one of the locals, who wanted to meet Rahul Gandhi.

“We finally came to meet Rahul Gandhi, and he has given his full support for her treatment,” he added.

“I want to meet him ask him for financial support. Previously, we could not meet him and ask for financial support. I called and asked for employment but it’s been one-and-a-half months and there is no reply,” said Anju, another local.

Over 1,500 to 2,000 people approached Gandhi with their problems at the event, and requested for help with regard to the civic problems pertaining to bad roads, erratic power supply, and inadequate provisions of health facilities in villages.

Gandhi gave a patient hearing to the villagers and assured them that necessary action would be taken to sort out their problems.

During the three-day tour, Rahul Gandhi met the Congress part workers and activists of the Youth Congress, besides attending a number of programmes. By Rajul Nigam (ANI)
