MELBOURNE - The sale of high-waisted undies in the UK has gone up by more than 40 percent over the past three months, with nanna knickers becoming more in-demand.
Lingerie experts have revealed that nanna knickers have become the new in-demand cut in Australia, following the overseas trend inspired by ‘Mad Men’.onds marketing manager Tanya Deans said there had been a spike in sales of Bonds’ Super Hi Top brief.
She said high-waisted briefs were set to be a key look for summer, worn underneath micro minis and shorts, because women wanted “more coverage in their underwear”.
Lingerie distributor Karen Edbrooke, who runs Big Girls Don’t Cry Anymore, said nanna knickers were also trending Down Under.
“The UK trend is starting to show here. We’re getting asked for them a lot,” News.com.au quoted her as saying.
“What happens in fashion becomes the trend for lingerie and the Mad Men style is to accentuate a woman’s curves.
“Lingerie pulls in the waist,” she stated.
Vogue.com.au editor Damien Woolnough said high-waisted silk and lace underwear was flattering and reflected outerwear trends.
“They really tap into that ’60s, Mad Men trend going through fashion at the moment,” he said.
“Nanna knickers represent a time when covering up rather than showing it all, G-string style, epitomised sexiness,” he added. (ANI)
