LAHORE - A renowned scholar Khaled Ahmed has warned that Muslims will fail to adjust in the modern world and achieve socio-economic progress until they accept modernity.
Speaking at the Ali Institute of Education in Lahore, he said that change is inevitable and Muslims should look ahead and not delve in the past.
“Reactionary interceptions of religion are advocated in the Muslim world,” the Daily Times quoted him, as saying.
He further blamed the religious leaders for trying to create a society based on a rigid model rather than following the guiding principles of innovation on the basis of observation and contemplation.
The scholar also condemned them for “plucking children from society”, de-socialising them and turning them into suicide bombers.
“Believing in force would create a menace for the world,” he added. (ANI)
