SRINAGAR - In a major administrative reshuffle, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday ordered transfer of several senior civil and police officials.
Following a State Cabinet meet, Omar Abdullah appointed Bharat Bhushan Vyas as his new Chief Secretary who replaces Khurshid Ahmed Gani and B.Srinivas as the new Inspector General of Crime Investigation Department (CID).
The other appointments included K.Rajender as new Assistant Director General (ADG), Law and Order and Asgar Samoon as the new Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir.
Navin Aggarwal has been posted as IGP (Railways), Zahoor Hussain Chisti as IGP (Armed Police, Kashmir zone) while Ravinder Kotal will be the new IGP (Armed Police, Jammu zone).
The decision appears to have been taken to effectively deal with the ongoing turbulence while ensuring a better law and order situation in the Valley and also to tone up the State administration. (ANI)
