DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The flood like situation prevailing in some parts of Delhi has wrecked havoc with the public life in the capital. The heavy rainfall has made the going doubly tough for the common man. With Raging Yamuna River continuously flowing well above the red mark and report of low lying areas getting inundated fear of flood is looming large among the residents. The government has set up some relief camps to help the evacuated lot and victims of the flood. However, the traffic has also been hit badly and the effect of this chaotic situation is hurting the wallet of the common man the most. The residents are shocked to see the skyrocketing prices of the fruits and vegetables in the Delhi market.
The cost of the vegetables has shot up by almost 12% in the last one week as one can feel. The water level has partially inundated areas like Ibrahimpur, Garhi Mendu, Nathupura, Jagatpur and the crops and vegetables in those regions have been destroyed by the water. Therefore it is natural that supply would be hit and the capital will get less vegetable and crops in the next few days. The flood in the northern states has already affected the supply of crops to the capital from other states.
The Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board admitted the shortage of supply that has been caused by the flood like situation. Delhi is also witnessing record rainfall this monsoon. The rain may aggravate the possibility of flood as the experts are assuming. The residents however are always at the receiving end.
