Police clarify only 6 persons arrested in Srinagar

SRINAGAR - Police authorities sought to clarify on Sunday that the news report stating 42 youth were round up in Bemina area of Srinagar was factually incorrect, in fact only six people were arrested recently.

“Police had launched an operation against the stone pelters and miscreants in the area, who were wanted by the police. After questioning some people only six persons were arrested against whom there is enough evidence in shape of videos and photographs,” an official release stated.

“None of the arrested persons is aged or a boy of seven years as reported by a news paper,” the release further stated. (ANI)
