‘Railways working to improve standard of cleanliness, amenities in trains’

NEW DELHI - Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa has informed that Railways were taking steps to improve the standards of cleanliness and amenities in trains.
In a written reply in Lok Sabha on Thursday K.H. Muniyappa said that setting up of mechanized laundries at important stations for improvements to the washing of linen, intensive mechanized cleaning of rakes in the coaching depots through professional agencies, limited mechanized cleaning attention to the identified trains during their scheduled stoppage at nominated en route ‘Clean Train Stations’, comprehensive pest and rodent control in trains through professional agencies, included the efforts made by the Railways in this direction.
The Minister informed that on-Board House Keeping Service (OBHS) in Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto and all important Mail/Express trains for frequent cleaning of coach toilets, doorways, aisles and passenger compartments during run and also for replenishment of liquid soap and spraying of air fresheners.
He said the Indian Railways always endeavour to improve upon the standards of cleanliness and amenities in trains. (ANI)
