The 24-year-old strawberry blond, facing up to 10 years in jail for allegedly trying to smuggle high-tech night vision scopes into Russia, made a brief court appearance where lawyers said they are trying to negotiate a plea bargain.
Fermanova, gave only short “Yes, your honour” answers to indicate she understood procedural matters.ut her attorney, Scott Palmer, got her bail conditions, which included home confinement near Dallas, Texas, eased so that she can seek work.
She has previously been granted 50,000 dollars bail and was freed when her father put up 7,500 dollars in cash.
“It’s a serious charge and we’re taking it seriously,” the New York Post quoted Palmer as saying.
“The US Attorneys are sending a message that we have troops in Afghanistan and Iraq who could be hurt by this equipment. These can be dangerous to our people but that’s not the case.
“She’s an attractive young lady but there’s no connection whatsover” to the deportees,” added Palmer. (ANI)
